A group of Islamists attacked a church building in Ezbat al-Qashiri village in Abu Qorqas, Minya, in protest against Coptic practices prayers in a church inside the building. But they failed to enter.
They set fire to the gate of the building and broke the surveillance camera at the top of the gate.
Security forces cordoned off the village after the attacks and the police continued to investigate.
A source in Ezbat al-Qashiri said that the village accommodate a large number Muslim Brotherhood, many of whom participated in Rabaa, Nahda and “palace” square in Menya sit-ins, including people who stormed Abu Qorqas police station after breaking the sit-ins in 2013.
