With hearts full of soreness, The Coptic church headed by HH Pope Tawadros II bid farewell to late Bishop Antonios, Bishop of Manfalut, who passed away On Sunday morning March 18, 2018, at the age of 67, In Archangels hospital in Manfalut after a long battle.
The funeral prayers will be held on Monday at St. Tadros’s Monastery in Manfalut.
HG Bishop Antonios (born Zakaria Ezzat) on May 31, 1951 in Qena Governorate, received his bachelor’s degree in dentistry in 1977 from Cairo University and joined al-Syrian Monastery on December 8, 1980, ordained Monk-Priest on June 19, 1986 by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III and ordained Bishop on June 22, 1986.
HH Pope Tawadros II entrusted HG Bishop Youannas, Bishop of Assiut and affiliated areas with the supervision of Manfalot Diocese of late Bishop Antonios, from the time he was at the hospital.
