The Diocese of the Netherlands, inaugurated Sts. Virgin Mary and Athanasius church, in Assen, in the north-east of the Netherlands, after the demolition of the old building and the construction of the new church.
Bishop Arsani, Bishop of the Netherlands presided over the ceremony, in which the Diocese priests participated, along with the priest of the church, monk Yoel elBaramossi.
Following the Mass, the Egyptian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Mr. Amjad Abdel Ghaffar, attended the ceremony and choir songs.
It is noteworthy that His Holiness Pope Tawadros II had visited this church and blessed the project, during his visit to the Diocese in May 2015, and the demolition and construction began several months later , and took about a year and a half.
