Pope Francis arrived in Cairo on Friday, April 28, 2017, on historic visit for two-day to emphasize the unity of the countrymen and that there is no difference between a Muslim or a Christian.
After President Sisi received the Pope at the Federal Palace, His Holiness went to Al-Azhar sheikdom to attend Peace Conference organized by Al Azhar and His Holiness delivered a speech at the conference, then the Pope met with Al-Azhar Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb in the presence of His Eminence Anba Ermia, General Bandishop, Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center Assistant Secretary General of the Egyptian Family
Pope Francis spoke at the International Peace Conference and began his speech by saying: “Peace be upon you..” in Arabic.

Jim Winkler, Secretary-General of the National Council of Churches of the United States, Anba Paula, representing Pope Twadros II, Dr. Amal Al-Qubaisi, President Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, Patriarchal Bartholomew I of Constantinople, Dr. Mohamed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and HG Anba Ermia attended the opening session on Thursday, 27 April 2017.
