HG Bishop Daniel, Bishop of Maadi and head of Cairo seminary Council, said that the decision of the Family Court to marry a Christian couple was based on recognition of customary marriage, which is contrary to all accepted rules because there is no civil marriage for Christians or Muslims in Egypt. This is only applied when marrying Egyptians from foreigners and therefore the judgement was based on the wrong rules.
