H.G. Bishop Raphael, Bishop of Downtown Cairo Churches and Secretary of the Holy Synod said: “next Abbot of St. Virgin Mary “Muharraq” monastery is not yet chosen, noting that His Holiness Pope Tawadros met with the monks of the monastery as they elected 3 of them.
His Grace added, During his weekly meeting with St. Mark Church congregation, that His Holiness the Pope met with the three candidates, knew their thoughts to choose one of them to be ordained bishop according to the regulations.
The monks of the monastery of St. Virgin Mary “Muharraq” chose three monks: “Rev. Begol al-Muharraqi, Rev. Arsanius al-Muharraqi, and Rev. Mina al-Muharraqi”, so one of them will replace the late Bishop Sawiris.
