His Eminence Bishop Antonios Morcos, Bishop of Africa Affairs, laid the foundation stone for the first Coptic church in Malawi in a solemn ceremony attended by a number of Malawian officials and representatives of Christian denominations.
The foundation stone was laid with the participation of Timothy Covia, representing Peter Mitarika, the President of the Republic of Malawi, Ambassador Maher El-Adawy, Ambassador of Egypt to Malawi, a number of ministers, ambassadors, representatives of the Catholic Church and a group of Copts living there.
The new Church is located at Chitedze along the Mchinji road, which will also assist the community with basic health care and teaching computer skills.
