The head of the Coptic Catholic Patriarch of Egypt, Ibrahim Isaac, presided on Sunday evening, The Christmas Mass at the Cathedral of St. Virgin Mary in Nasr City.
The Mass was attended by a representative of the President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, Minister of Immigration Nabila Makram, Amr Moussa, former President of the Constituent Assembly of the Constitution and a number of senior state officials.
The Roman Catholic Church celebrates Christmas in Egypt, according to the Western calendar, while the Orthodox Church celebrates it on January 7th according to the Eastern calendar.
In his speech during the Mass on Sunday evening, Patriarch Ibrahim Isaac thanked President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for delegating his excellency secretary Mohammad Najm to attend the mass and greet them for Christmas.
He added “We pray for President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, our armed forces and police, and for all the sincere sons of Egypt and all the honorable people of this nation, whose martyrs are not forgotten, they are a crown of glory for our present and future.”
“We also pray for the mothers and fathers in our rooter homeland, that have a distinguished message in the history of civilizations, who are keen to raise their children and toil to build their future. We send our children abroad a message of love and peace, we affirm that the birth of Christ is a message of joy for the whole world .
“The visit of the Pope of Peace to Egypt is still present in all Egyptians minds, and to the conscience of every believer in hope and the unity of humankind; Therefore, in solidarity with His Holiness Pope Francis, who prays for our dear East, especially for Egypt, and with the patriarchs and bishops of all churches, we pray this evening for our beloved country Egypt, asking that the Lord protect it from all evil and from the evil of terrorism. “
He greet the Archbishops, Bishops, clergy and priests, monks, nuns and deacons, and all members of the Coptic Catholic Church in Egypt and the diaspora.
