His Holiness Pope Tawadros II met at St. Mark Cathedral (the papal headquarter) in Abbassiya German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her accompanying delegation.
HE Merkel was received by their Eminences Anba Moussa Bishop of youth, Anba Raphael General Bishop of downtown Cairo Churches and Holy Synod secretary, Anba Daniel Bishop of Maadi and Basatin, Fr. Angelios Isaac and Fr. Ammonius Adel secretaries of the Pope, Fr. Boulos Halim, spokesman of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Ms. Barbara Soliman head of Pontifical Office for Projects and relations.
The German chancellor had arrived to Cairo this afternoon in a two-day visit and met upon her arrival with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi at the Federal Palace.
This is the first visit by Merkel to Egypt since the inauguration of President-Sisi as Arab Republic of Egypt President.
