Ancient Icon of St. Inocondius Coptic Orthodox Bishop of Moscow sheds tears

The Russian Orthodox Church has confirmed the phenomenon of tears streaming down an ancient icon of the St. Inocondius, dubbed “Saint of the Innocent” or “Preacher of Alaska”, inside the prayer room of a small chapel, part of the Theological Institute in the area of Baiken in Russian capital Moscow.

The phenomenon commenced on the 20th of August when a number of the institute’s students noticed a lovely odor of scents filling the small chapel containing an ancient icon of St. Inocondius, and when they tried to follow the source of the fragrance, they observed the left eye of the icon starting to shed tears. They summoned the deputy chancellor of the institute, Metropolitan Ephraim to closely examine the icon with them, and note the aroma of the place, and seek out the causes.

Based on this, the Theological Institute’s Board convened on the following morning, 21st August, led by the Metropolitan Ignatius to investigate the phenomenon. They were stunned to see the right eye of the Saint also shed plenty of tears, along with a powerful fragrance emanating from it, far more than on the previous day. They took a number of photos of the icon to capture the event, and because they have not ascertained the cause of this event, they affirmed it is a miraculous occurrence that cannot be explained.
