On Saturday February 6, 2016 HG Bishop Karas General Bishop of Mahala Diocese and related areas, inaugurated late Fr. Athanasios Ibrahim Services Building at St. Anthony and Martyr Gawargius Church that was named in the honor of late Fr. Athanasios Ibrahim as the Diocese celebrates his departure seventh anniversary.
A number of fathers, priests and people of the Diocese attended the opening, as well as many public figures in Mahalla.
It is worth mentioning that the building was established in 2008, where HG obtained a license to establish the building for church services and the building was built on a 250 square meters, after demolishing the old one.
The church establishment return to 1988, where the Orthodox Church bought the Greek Orthodox Church, in the reign of the late Pope Shenouda III and the late Anba Youannes Bishop of Gharbia. The Coptic Orthodox Church held the first Mass in the church in July 10, 1988, and the late Father Athanasius Benjamin has been appointed a priest and a minister of the church where he served till he departed on February 7, 2009.
