Fr. Agathon, Pastor of St. Macarius Church, said that a short circuit led to the explosion of an electric cabin next to the church of St. Macarius in Ibn al-Hakam area in Shubra al-Kheima. The fire reached the church and damaged some of the stories and swallowed up completely the wood and iron of the fifth floor, which was being prepared for the ingot on an area of 2221 meters.
Pastor of St. Macarius Church, added that by midnight the cab heat begun to increase, which led to the expulsion of the people who lived next to the church in anticipation of anything that could happen.
“After about an hour and a half from the time of the report, two Fire trucks arrived to the church, and then the police chief and members of the House of representatives came” he said, immediately after they saw the fire, Four Fire trucks arrived.
Civil protection took control of the fire that broke out the church last night, and extinguished it before extending to other stories without casualties, and public prosecution are investigating the incident to find out its circumstances.
