In the early hours of Monday morning, officers of the National Security Service in Qena arrested an ISIS terrorist cell consisting of 4 people before planning terrorist attacks in the governorate.
Major General Salah al-Din Hassan, Assistant Minister of Interior for Qena Police, received a notification from the National Security Service that a terrorist cell consisting of 4 persons was arrested in the village of Hajza in Qus south of Qena, for communicating with ISIS and planning to attack monasteries and churches in the province.
A senior security source said that members of the terrorist cell were seized from a house in the center of Qus, before planning to implement a number of terrorist attacks in the province, pointing out that they found with them a number of maps, pictures and videos of the Coptic churches and monasteries in the province.
The source added that the investigations of national security officers revealed the members of the terrorist cell contacted ISIS through social networking sites in order to carry out terrorist attacks aiming at Police forces and citizens.
While the prosecution of Qena under the supervision of Counselor Moemen Radwan, began the investigation and accused the suspects of joining a terrorist cell, after receiving a report of the incident.
