On Life 249 – “The Hungry Rich” – December, 14, 2018

He said: The happiness emotions that accompany giving are wonderful ones as described by Robins! I think many people pursue such feelings, however I feel confused regarding this issue! I quickly asked: What is confusion for?! He gazed at me as if he was trying to summon the words, and said: I do not know how to express this! Yet simply, although there is nobody who do not wish to live in happiness, but rather they chase it throughout their lives, few people yet who pursue the path of giving, enjoying its happiness experienced by all. More strangely, most of the givers are simple people who own little money! Contrarily, many of the wealthy do not have this great grant.
After moments of silence, I replied: human soul is wondrous, o my friend, for it keeps searching for happiness throughout her life, unaware that the path to there is to be freed of the thought chains binding one’s soul inside itself, losing the true goal for the creation of man. Such thoughts deeply rooted in man deceive him, claiming that happiness lies in taking more! Even if this is done on others’ expenses! You first, then others may come! Man loses his insight towards his human brethren, focusing on himself only throughout the journey of life! How can man give while he realizes nothing but his ego, desires and needs, blocking his ears from listening to the sigh of the suffering?!
People of such thoughts are convinced that the more money, property they own, the happier they become, yet they become of more money and of a more miserable life too! Thoughts roam in man’s mind and heart, announcing that his security and peace lie in gaining more and more, unaware that the future is in the hands of God only, and that a time may come in which he will benefit nothing from what he has collected all over his life. He interrupted me saying: I totally agree with you, few days ago, I read a story one of the richest men in the world, who used to keep his money in a locker of a big room size in his house. One day, he was locked up in his locker and was unable to open it. He remained in this state with nobody noticing his absence as he was often traveling. His absence period extended too long, and when the locker was opened, he was found dead, having written with his blood: “The richest man in the world dies starving and thirsty!”
I continued: Yes, and not only death, many affairs are in the hands of God, when man offers all his hopes, dreams, trust and corporeal and moral capabilities to God, God manages his life in the best ways possible. I do not mean that man should not seek to improve his capabilities, but I mean that man shall not be a captive of himself, he shall share his life with his companions, feeling them and their pains, as feeling for the others is a great sense which the noble souls only keep.
