Virgin Mary Church in Nyala, Sudan denied rumors of the existence of communications from the kidnappers of monk Gabriel Al-Antony demanding for ransom to release him.
The church secretary confirmed, “that the fate of the monk is unknown since he was kidnapped and there was no communication from the kidnappers either with the church or with his family to ask for a ransom, and that the identity of the kidnappers still yet unknown, the brother of the monk confirmed to the police of Sudan that their is no contacts with the kidnappers and all that is just rumors. Father Sarabamoun Edward priest of the church in Khartoum, sent by Bishop Elia to take care of Our Lady Church in Nyala said that there is no news about monk Gabriel and it is absolutely incorrect that there was a call from the kidnappers asking for ransom, demanding everyone to be accurate and not to spread rumors and pray to God for the return of the kidnapped monk safely. the Coptic churches in Sudan pray for the return of the monk Gabriel Al-Antony. Monk Gabriel Al-Antony has a Sudanese nationality and takes care of the Virgin Mary Church belonging to the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church in Nyala southern state of northern Sudan.
