HG Anba Ermia, General Bishop and head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, announced the launch of a competition for the deaf and hard of hearing in the fields of photography, sculpture and drawing from all governorates from all over Egypt.
In a meeting with a group of deaf and hard of hearing people participating in the activities of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, His Grace Anba Ermia, in the presence of Mahfouz Nasrallah, member of the Center’s Board of Trustees, said that the competition aims to provide these young people with the opportunity to express themselves through creativity and to introduce the community to their talents. The center provides services to all Egyptians of all ages and opens windows through which they are integrated into society.
His Grace stressed that this group of young people receive all aspects of support and care as an inherent right to them, and that all means and possibilities must be provided to take advantage of their energy and creativity in the service of society.
The Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center announced that the deadline for submission of the participating works will be 30 November and that the date of the winners’ ceremony will be announced after the announcement of the result by the jury of the competition, which requires participants to present 5 pictures of landscapes. For the sculpture contest, the participant presents one of the works of the Pharaonic civilization, while the drawing competition the participant should presents a painting expressing the national unity that connects the Egyptian people.
Participating in the competition are deaf and hard of hearing students from universities, associations, youth centers and all those wishing to participate from all over the country.
It is noteworthy that the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center supports deaf and hard of hearing through the teaching of sign language as well as the lessons, in addition totraining qualified translators for Egyptian universities, and help students be enrolled in the faculties of specific education in Ain Shams and Cairo universities.
