Yesterday HG Anba Makarios, bishop of Minya and Abou Korkas headed the Divine Liturgy, which was held at the prayer site, which was burned at dawn Thursday by extremists in Ismailia village.
The Mass was attended by a group of priests and deacons and the presence of a large number of worshipers nearly 500 people, although they prayed in open air in 50c temperature, but they were eager to attend the Divine Liturgy.
Bishop Makarios in the Sermon of the Divine Liturgy, thanked all those who attended the mass and thanked the people of the church for dealing with the situation calmly and wisely despite burning the church and His Grace added that we do not fight evil with evil, but we bless and not curse. His Eminence also thanked the village Muslims who stood next to the church and its people. After the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Makarios visited the house adjacent to the burned prayer site, a house of a Christian family which has been affected by the fire.
