His Grace Bishop Makarios, Bishop of Minya, prayed at St. Virgin Mary and Mar-Girgis (St George) Church in the village of Sheikh Alaa in Menia, which was previously closed.
In his sermon on Sunday morning, His Grace congratulated the congregation on the occasion of the church reopening. Bishop Makarios said: “I would like to thank every official in the state and all those who toiled to open the church.” He added “His Holiness the Pope watch out and toil for the congregation and is always at your service and HG Bishop Arsanios is always keen to serve you and all the priests, noting his joy for the presence of large numbers of the congregation to at the Mass, as well as the regularity of the Coptic people in going to the Church in spite of current security conditions and weather fluctuations.
